The Lonavala Education Trust was established in the year 1981 by few enterprising residents of Lonavala with an objective of imparting higher education to the student community in and around Lonavala who were deprived of it.
The college was started in 1983, with a merely sixty students in the auspicious bungalow of Kotak family. The entire college was established and shifted with the blessings by Dr. B. N. Purandare Trust, Bombay with their vast and naturally beautiful campus in 1987.
The Junior college of Arts was started during 1991-92 and composite division of Arts and Commerce has also been functioning along with Arts division for the past years. The campus was developed and a beautiful building was built in the campus with the kind help of Shri Babuji Gupta. The commerce wing of the college was named after him. The Science department was established in 2010 with only one college with 100 % government grant. Today our student strength has gone upto 1500, which has been an achievement.

Our college is now situated amongst the lush green surroundings of nature. Nested at the foot of the Valvan Dam, with a picturesque backdrop of the verdant hills of Lonavla, the college provides an ideal setting for imparting and imbibing of knowledge. In the lap-of nature and yet but a stone’s throw away from the Mumbai-Pune highway, the college is nearby old Mumbai-Pune Highway and only about two and half Km away from Lonavla Station and S.T. Stand. The ghat, valleys and numerous lakes around Lonavla are constant rowers of amphora pleasure. This scenic beauty rejuvenates the youth to see the brighter sides of life. Our college is the source of inspiration for this youth in directing and shaping their future. The youth around this place posses’ enormous potential and capability, to be the pillar of the next generation of this country.
The college believes in Tagore’s dream of establishing a nation “Where mind is without fear and head is held high” and has been persevering in realizing it since its establishment in 1983. This being the motto of the college, we impart value based education. We do not believe in hammering values in the student but bringing to their own realization of what is good for them and for the society. The college also believes in an overall development of the students and has always encouraged and motivated those students and instilled in them the confidence required in this world with cut throat competition at all levels.
