Ph.D. Degree in Botany (University of Pune)
Title of the Ph.D.Thesis: “Studies on Production of Medicinally important metabolites in Tribulus terrestris L. and Boerhavia diffusa L. through tissue culture”.
Research Guide: Dr. T. D. Nikam, Department of Botany, University of Pune
Research Work carried out for Ph.D. Degree
In-vitro propagation protocol developed for Tribulus terrestris L. and Boerhavia diffusa L. and caulogenesis has obtained from nodal explants of Tribulus terrestris L. and Boerhavia diffusa L.
Rhizogenesis obtained from leaf, node, internode, and root explant of Tribulus terrestris L. and Boerhavia diffusa L.
Protocol for induction and maintenance of callus has established.
Somatic embryogenesis achieved from leaf and stem callus of Tribulus terrestris L. and developed a rapid in-vitro propagation protocol through somatic embryogenesis.
For enhancement of secondary metabolite production, calli of both the plant species were grown on the medium supplemented with precursors and elicitors.
Estimation of secondary metabolites from callus obtained with different culture conditions and naturally grown plant parts has carried out.
Use of biotic elicitor showed increased production of secondary metabolite than in- vitro obtained shoots, roots, callus and naturally grown plant material.
Use of organic supplement showed best results for increasing production of important metabolites in callus cultures.
