Lonavla Education Trust’s, Dr. B. N. Purandare Arts, Smt. S. G. Gupta Commerce and Smt. Shardaben Amrutlal Mithaiwala Science College, Lonavla was established in 1983, with a merely sixty students in the auspicious bungalow of Kotak family. The entire college was established and shifted with the blessings by Dr. B. N. Purandare Trust, Bombay with their vast and naturally beautiful campus in 1987.
The college is based on the pedestal ‘विद्याधनं सर्वधनं प्रधानम’ means ‘Amongst all the Riches and Virtues of Life, Education is the Supreme’. The college is permanently affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU), Pune (formerly University of Pune). The College has acquired 2(f) and 12(B) status of UGC. The college provides various academic facilities to attain Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in the fields of Arts, Commerce and Science. It has a Post Graduate Research Centre approved by SPPU. The college not only ensures the academic development of the students but also provides them with opportunities to prove themselves by undertaking research, indulging in extra-curricular and co-curricular activities. These efforts of our College have produced both, State Level and National Level Players, Industrialists, Gazetted Officers, Politicians, Actors and Police Officers. In other words, from amongst its alumni, the college has given to the country the great teachers, scientists, researchers, administrators, entrepreneurs, artists, musicians, film actors, patriots, film directors and philosophers.
