YashavantaroChavhan Maharashtra Open University has been established in the year 1989,by Government of Maharashtra. This university is provide distance education to needy people through study center.
Lonavla is small city connected with nearly 80 villages. Lonavla Education Trust found educational need of masses around Lonavla and started study CentreofYashavantaroChavhan Maharashtra Open Universityunder “Dr. B. N. Purandare Arts, Smt. S. G. Gupta Commerce and Science College, Lonavla” in 1997. Initially college started, “Bachelor Of Arts” then it has been extended for “Bachelor of Commerce” and “Master of Business Administration”.
Study centre - 6261A provide education for working masses in various area such as Railway servant, Teachers, Government servant, people engaged in Hotel Industry, employee of industry, Farmer, LIC agent etc. for improving their own life.
Dr. RavindraKadu (June -1997 to May-1999) worked as co-ordinator of study center, Later responsibility has been accepted by Prof. Rahul Salawade (June-1999 to Dec-2014) and Prof. ShashikalaThakar (Jan-2015 to July-2015) also contributed for development of student through study centre-6261A, Lonavla. There were nearly more than 8000 people benefited from the centresince 1997.
